Using the GPOs

The GPO connectors on RM1 are meant to signal if a microphone is on. In this documentation, we refer Yellowtec m!ka Mic Arm On Air as a sample use case.

What are GPOs and red light indicators?

In the context of broadcasting, a GPO stands for "General Purpose Output." It is an electrical interface used to control various devices and equipment in a broadcasting environment. On the RM1, the GPO connectors are meant to control indicators, signalling that a microphone channel is on. The red light helps to remind people in the studio to maintain appropriate behavior and noise levels, as anything captured by the microphones will disturb a recording session.
