Troubleshooting

If RM1 is not performing as expected, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve common issues.

important

Before you perform any steps below, make sure your RM1 firmware is up to date. See Update RM1.

Symptom: RM1 does not start up

Various reasons could cause RM1 to not start correctly.

Check in which state RM1 is stuck

  • Does the device stay dark?
  • Does the LEDs light up and the device touch screen just shows the RM1 logo?
  • Do the Buttons light up white?

In all of the cases

  • Check power supply and cable. Use the included power supply and USB-C cable.
  • Startup might take longer because of a firmware update. Be patient. If RM1 still does not start up after 5 minutes, disconnect from power and re-connect it.
  • Check if the Web UI is reachable and just the device touch screen stays dark.

Contact us for further assistance. Makes sure to tell us where RM1 is stuck as described above.

Symptom: RM1 Web UI is not reachable

This problem is probably caused by a network misconfiguration. See Connecting to the Web UI for more details.

  • On the device touch screen, swipe left to the mint-green connect screen. Follow the instructions there.
  • Try connecting to RM1's IP address directly instead of rm1.local or [Device Name].local. You find the IP address on the device touch screen, Network settings.
  • On the device touch screen, swipe right to the settings page, go to Network settings.
  • Check your connection method, if it matches the network settings you require and try to connect.
  • Check if the network RM1 tries to connect to is reachable with another device.
  • Check if your computer / tablet / phone is in the same network as RM1.

If all the above steps fail:

  • Go to Device settings and select Reset Network to reset the network settings to default.
  • RM1 will start in hotspot mode and you can connect to the Wireless Network provided by RM1.

Symptom: Strange Audio Behavior / My headphones are too quiet

If something behaves strangely, e.g. you have no audio signal on your headphones.

Make sure PFL is off

  • Connect to the Web UI and check there, if PFL is enabled on any channel

Make sure the inputs are on

  • On the device touch screen, swipe right to the input list.
  • Select the toggles of the inputs to be on.
  • Alternatively, connect to the Web UI and check there, the inputs are switched ON.

Check headphone and speaker level on the device touch screen

  • On the device touch screen, check the volume levels for headphone and speaker

Make sure Mute speaker when mic is on is turned off

  • The setting is designed to prevent unwanted feedback on your loudspeakers.
  • On the device touch screen, swipe right to access the settings menu.
  • Select Device from the menu.
  • Set the toggle Mute speaker when mic is on to off.

Make sure High Volume Safety is turned off

  • The setting is designed to protect your hearing. Nevertheless, some headphones might require higher volume levels due to their higher impedance.
  • On the device touch screen, swipe right to access the settings menu.
  • Select Device from the menu.
  • Set the toggle High Volume Safety to off.

If all the above steps fail:

  • Go to Device settings and select Reset to Factory to reset RM1. This will also wipe any misbehaving configuration.
